What once started with five thousand dollars and a dream has now flourished into a multifaceted company. Several years later, Gunne Sax is now Jessica McClintock, Inc. and the granny dresses once donned by hippies have been replaced with glamorous evening apparel to suit all occasions from prom to bridal. Jessica McClintock, Inc. the San Francisco based design house, owned and operated by Jessica McClintock, designs and manufactures fabulous frocks to encompass the wide range of social, bridal, junior, and children’s clothing.

A leading figure in the apparel design community, Jessica, is an active member of the council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) and is a past President if the San Francisco Fashion Industries. A recipient of many awards for her designs, Jessica was launched by the California Mart in 1985 with the California Designer of the Year Award, and received the special 1986 Tommy Award from the American Printed Fabric Council for her unique design conceptualization. She has been granted the DEBI Award for Social Occasions in 1992, 1993, 1996, and 1997 and the Dallas Fashion Award in 1981, 1987, 1988, and 1990. Bridal Information Resource bestowed Jessica McClintock with the Retailer’s Choice Award both in 1996 and 1997 for social occasion and bridal apparel. Jessica McClintock was named among Working Women’s 1994- 1996 Top 50 Women Business Owners. The Academy of Arts College in San Francisco, most recently granted Jessica a Doctorate of Humane Letters.

Jessica McClintock’s fashions are seen at more proms, graduations, weddings and special occasions than any other designer’s. Today, in addition to the Gunne Sax line, Jessica’s romantic ideal is also reflected in her creations for Jessica McClintock for Girls, Scott McClintock and Jessica McClintock Bridal. Jessica has recently introduced Jessica McClintock Collections and JMCSF, which can be found exclusively at one of her twenty-five retail boutiques nationwide.

Jessica introduced her signature Fragrance, Jessica McClintock, in 1988, and in 1997, Women’s Wear Daily, included this incredibly distinctive scent among the top ten selling fragrances for women list. A nominee for the FiFi Award, Jess, introduced in 1995 was recognized for its sophisticated and unique packaging, Scott McClintock for Men, is also among her Fragrances.
